Matcha Latte with Maca, The Super Healthy Energy Drink

Matcha is a type of green tea, and it’s been getting a lot of attention lately, for good reason. It is made from the finely powdered chlorophyll-rich leaves of good quality green tea plants, and is a potent source of nutrients, providing you with a powerful little package that will enhance your metabolism, reduce your stress, boost your immune system, lower your cholesterol, fight cancer, and boosting your energy the natural way.

Okinawa in Japan is one of the places in the world where people live the longest, and that’s been attributed to the fact that they regularly consume matcha. So it’s definitely safe to say that this is a formidable anti-aging agent, and its antioxidant content is a fierce anti-carcinogen, protecting you from cancer.

Matcha also lowers bad cholesterol, increases your body’s rate of burning calories, helps your body to detoxify, improves your mind power, and provides you with a high level of dietary fiber. You’ll also find that it’s a great pick-me-up, so make this vibrant-green matcha latte first thing in the morning for an energy boost, or in the afternoon if you’re hitting a bit of a slump.

Maca is a root which is part of the cruciferous family, so it is cousins with broccoli, cabbage and radish. It’s a bit more unique than them, though, which puts it into the class of superfoods, just like one it’s other popular cousin, kale. It has a pleasant earthy, sweet taste which will make you fall in love with it, and also for its health benefits – a positive effect on your energy levels, hormone balance, overall health booster.

This slightly yellowish root is a great source of important vitamins and minerals, also carbs and protein, it’s low in fat and has a good amount of fiber. I love using maca for its adaptogen properties, which means that it creates balance wherever there is need for in my body.

Ever since I turned 35 my hormone imbalance changed a bit – while I struggled with acne and sudden mood changes, I now face an incipient endometriosis and sleep troubles. Maca is helping me to be the master of my moods, by reducing anxiety and stress, and also by balancing my energy levels in a natural way. It works perfectly with the matcha powder, as it also stimulates the energy production, in a natural, balanced rhythm, by akening your body cells’ metabolism and bringing clarity to your mind.

When you’re combining these two beauties with coconut milk and coconut oil, you’re fueling your body even more with fiber, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, calcium, potassium, magnesium and electrolytes. You’ll also be hydrating yourself, adding more natural energy to your body, improving your digestion as well as your absorption of all the nutrients in this wonderful recipe, protecting yourself against diseases and helping your body to cleanse and flush out toxins.

Are you still reading this? You should be in the kitchen right now whipping up a magical cup or two of this extraordinary latte! And then you need to go forth and conquer!

Absolutely delicious! Just made this to sip on this morning after a late night of pacing with my four month old. Feeling relaxed but still have energy. Love it. I made the almond milk with my Vitamix and it has the creamiest, caramel taste combined with the maca. Thank you for the informative post! And beautiful photos!

Was sad because I lost my blender blades so I couldn’t make a smoothie with my newly purchased maca and matcha powder. Then found this super yummy, healthy matcha & maca latte recipe. Thank you! Feeling full of nutrition and energy for my workout without the crash I’d get from coffee!

Thank you for this recipe! Such a rich treat and a nice alternative to all the smoothie recipes out there. It tastes like what I WANT a matcha latte at a coffee shop to taste like, but they never live up to expectations, but this one sure does!

Thanks for the great recipe!!! I tweaked mine a bit, I used coconut milk because I’m allergic to almond milk and I added vanilla collagen peptide creamer to it and it was absolutely delish! I had energy, and I felt full and happy! Thanks again!!!

I mix maca and matcha with Greek yogurt unsweetened almond milk and 1 scoop of vanilla protein of course with ice and gives me great energy all day.
Is this okay to drink everyday?

Adding yogurt it’s great for a healthy microbiome and immunity system. Maca can boost the estrogen production, so it’s not the perfect ingredient for ongoing consumption. I would keep all the ingredients and add maca from time to time
