I don’t usually drink alcohol, but if it’s hiding inside a healthy combination, I’ll definitely go for a sip. Pair it with fresh vegetable juice, fruit purées, nut milk or fermented drinks, skip sugar or replace with unrefined or raw alternatives, reduce the quantity of alcohol and add more fresh juices or purified water, and you’ll obtain delicious, guilt-free cocktails that won’t hurt your liver or give you headaches after parties.
When it comes about cocktails, I always love to find a way to include cucumber juice. Cucumber not only adds a delicious fresh taste to any drink, but also reduces the effects of alcohol when paired with, in a cocktail drink. It has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects, acting as a liver toner, and also giving its high water content, it has diuretic action, contributing to an easier elimination of alcohol.
This minty lime-cucumber juice is my healthy version of margarita, without refined sugar and with very little alcohol, just to remind us that we’re actually adults 🙂
