It is well recognized that we should be drinking eight glasses of water per day. But what if, like me, you find water bland, tasteless, and tough to choke down?
Drinking water is key to flushing your system of toxins and restoring good gut flora.
Even if you enjoy water, adding a few simple ingredients found at any supermarket can kick your water up a notch and enhance its health benefits.
If you are on a weight loss journey, increasing your water intake is the best place to start that process.
This recipe is naturally sweetened with pineapple, slightly spicy with cayenne and ginger, and will definitely leave you wanting more.
What Does Detox Water Do?
This detox water benefits digestion, helps balance hormones, and regulates the metabolism with its carefully crafted fresh ingredients.
Drinking detox water for skin health can help clear problematic complexions and help restore youthful elasticity.
Additionally, detox water can aid in removing toxins, enhancing weight loss efforts, improving mood, and enhancing energy levels.
It also helps prevent dehydration, which can have an adverse effect on your concentration, mood and energy levels, by improving water absorption and retention.
Is Detox Water Good for Weight Loss?
This detox water is a great weapon to use in a weight loss battle.
Drinking more water in general is the best place to start when looking to shed a few pounds, but detox water will take you even further. It helps to flush the body and leaves you feeling full, thereby reducing your need to consume senseless calories.
If you feel hungry even though you have recently eaten, try drinking some detox water. Dehydration can often make you feel hungry when really you are thirsty.
By adding a few simple ingredients, this detox water recipe can give you an extra weight loss boost.
Lemon helps flush the digestive system, provide an alkalizing effect, and gives the liver a good jump start.
It can enhance digestion, support the immune system, and help improve mood imbalances.
Apple cider vinegar offers a probiotic effect and helps restore the good bacteria in the gut and maintain stable blood sugar levels. There are also reports that claim you can use apple cider vinegar for hot flashes. Or, you can combine ACV and lemon juice for a refreshing detox/weight loss drink.
Cayenne pepper stimulates digestion, heals the gut, improves circulation, and supports weight loss. Pineapple will help give this detox water a touch of sweetness, leaving you wanting more while supporting digestion and reducing inflammation.
How to Make Detox Water for Weight Loss
Detox water is made by infusing water with the ingredients to reap the benefits, rather than juicing or blending, which include the whole ingredient.
As a result, detox water contains very few calories and helps avoid the sugar spike that can come with juices or smoothies.
Crushing the ingredients (like the pineapple and the lemon) help to bring out the properties and flavors of the fruit. As the blend rests in your fridge the water continues to mix with the flavors and nutrients added to the drink, so it will be just as tasty the when you finish the pitcher as when you started it.

Sure wish I would’ve seen this recipe earlier. I’m sure you’re aware, there are countless variations. I wonder why some Call for honey and how that would be beneficial. Any ideas? I didn’t read anything about how this helped you. I’ve only been drinking it before meals for a few days, and I love it.
Ana says
I would add honey for its digestive boosting enzymes, but it’s not mandatory.
Lisana Munoz says
How long should I drink this? 2 weeks? Everyday?
Ana says
You can have it daily, any time you feel like giving your metabolism a quick boost. See how you feel and if your stomach tolerates the ingredients, you can drink it for up to two weeks.

Hi Ana, just stumbled on to your website. Love everything I see here and cannot wait to try your recipes out. For the detox water, is there any substitute for the pineapple. I think I am allergic to it. Thanks!
Ana says
Thank you so much! You can use sliced green apple or kiwi instead of pineapple.
Christina says
Do you blend the ginger with the Pineapple? Reason I asked if I did and it taste real bad
Ana says
No, just let them infuse in the water.

What can I use in replacement of cayenne?
Ana says
You can add one or two teaspoons of apple cider vinegar, or simply skip it.
Maria says
I made the recipe for myself how much should I drink in a serving per day?
Thank you:)
Ana says
You can drink 2-3 cups a day, if you tolerate well the cayenne. If not, you can simply skip it and drink the water any time you feel thirsty.

Hi – quick question. I made this detox and drank the water (which by the way was really good – Thanks!). I was wondering if I would be able to re-use the pineapples, lemon and ginger and just add more water, cayenne pepper and ACV? It seems like a waste to throw away the fruits & ginger after only one use.
Ana says
Sure, you can use them by refilling the jug until the flavours fade, usually after 3-4 days. Just add a slightly less ACV with each refill.
Shannon says
Hey Anna so how many lemon slices, the whole lemon & should I just put the ingredients in the water or how should you put it in?
Ana says
You can slice the lemon as you like, I prefer thinner slices for a more intense taste. You put all the ingredients into a pitcher, cover with water, mix, let infuse then drink. You can refill will water one more time, after that they will loose most of their flavour.
Kelly says
